Tableside manners:The Good, The Bad and The Ugly...
Some ongoing observations, by Raymond Baldwin
We have all seen players who are borishly rude, loud, obnoxious and
offensive beyond the beyond, right? Certainly there are the certifiable
psychotics, drunks, outraged losers, bad players etc. But to cut to the
quick I believe that some of this over the top "bad behavoir" is intentional.
Like you I believe the smoothest way is to go with the flow, trends are
friends and your new roulette program is a masterfull picture of how to see
existing positive patterns and the opposite/reverse where a vacuum awaits
balance (more on that soon). Nevertheless there are obviously other
approaches.
The loud mouth stereotype may be a camoflaged 'mentalist' as the great
Kreskin would say. The strategical purpose would be to overtly and covertly
dominate the game! The intent is to control the other players, control the
dealers, control the dice, upset the situation until ultimely this player is
in control of the game. Does that qualify as an edge :-) ???
These players infuse/overflow the game with their dominating personality and
you can't be Mr Nice Guy to pull this off.
Body/Mind connection
High physical energy coupled with mental magneticisim utilizes the
overwhelming power ofÊone.
I realize this is not exactly new ground. I often see all kinds of
metaphysical applications going from the superstious tailsman to quiet meditation.
Look I know that there are at times more prayers at the Casino Temples then at all
the churches, synaguges and other houses of worship :-) oh but that's another story....
Many of these gruff and rough players have it in their mind set to out
intimidate the pit critters and everyone else to gain ascendency and win.
The Ancient Mariners-
We are all aware of how astute the old masters of wind, tides and moon
phases were in setting their sails and harnessing nature's abundant energy
(Feng Shui) right? Here we go with the flow again, but still there were other
less harmonic approaches.
Pre-FedX, when it absolutely positively has to get there-
During Augustus Caesar's reign an important message was being dispatched to
Capri and a timid but honest intermediary said, "That the next high tide will
not be until tomorrow morning." Therein Admiral of the Navy, Agrippa, snapped
his orders: "Caesar's messages wait for no fair wind or tide" and instantly
ordered a full Roman galley ored by two levels manpower to move the sealed
paprus upcurrent to its final destination. Kind of reminds me of one of
those increasing mushrooming progressions Ugh :-)
So when controlling the outcome is imperative, as in gambling, then type AAA
people do not await a favorable opportunity, but rather attempt to
manufacture a custom atmosphere conducive for themselves.
Like Machiavelli in the Prince, I do not recommend this style but only report that
in this town famous for magic and mis-direction that I believe that given an
appropriately willful personality can and does succeed in gaming as in other
areas of life by sheer power applied (magnetic).
Of course people can and do get tossed out of casinos everyday for
misbehaving (& winning), but many winners are not gentelmen gamblers as
personified in slick Bond movies where our gentelmen agent never loses -
but Never Say Never..... :-)
Heart of Gold-
Big burly surly Danny Gold from Haifa was just such a guy I knew, he gave me
the numbers on the first bias wheel I saw at the Sands Casino. One night at
the elegant and unflappable High Stakes Baccarat Room in the Mirage, he had
the whole pit in a flutter barking out demands while raking it in. This
audience was too experienced to be put off by his wise shannagins and could
spot a winner faster than you could say Johnny Walker Black Label and they
started piling high their black chips on his bets. The Mirage property of
Steve Wynn fame, never known to play scared money, actually shut down the game
and asked him not to return.
Does he win because he has confidence or does he have confidence because he
wins....an edge is an edge.
Casino Caution-
Also even though these gambling personalities possess superhuman "Samson"
playing strength, there lies casino danger in that these same super punters will
become quickly identified by the respective pit critters and bring the worst
countermeasures designed to bring about a hasty defeat and exit.
