MONEY MANAGEMENT
PARLAY
PARLAY (or Let it Ride or...) is the exact opposite to
MARTINGALE; you double as you win instead of double
when you lose.
The PARLAY system is (mainly) used for even chances betting (Red, Black,
Even, Odd, Low, High) and is used in this way:
You start a session by betting some amount, 5 chips. Whenever you win, you let both
your bet and win stay at the table (until you decide to collect), whenever you lose, you start again with the initial bet.
This one can give you lots of money if you can find a hitting streak. But until then... you will
lose. And lose. And lose again, as that is what this system is all about; bet until you lose. Or
reach your limit, when you collect.

For example, you decide to set a limit of 5 wins, and then collect. Strictly mathematically,
there will be one winning session in 32 - this is in average. In average you will thus need
a bank-roll of 32 units (or initial bets) to be "sure" to get one hit. Now, say you won
one bet out of 32 and let's look at what happened. You had 16 immediate losses, 8 WinLose,
4 WinWinLose, 2 WWWL, 1 WWWWL and 1 WWWWW - supposing there are no zeros. Your five winnings
in the winning session would be: 2 + 2 + 4 + 8 + 16 = 32! You got even...
(Don't you understand why you won two times two chips and not the double every time? Here goes:
Your initial bet of 1 was put at the table when betting and thus it is counted for together with
all the lost initial bets to make the total of 32. The chip is regarded lost. Now, when you win, you
are to keep your bet, plus you get the amount of chips won, in this case 1 chip, making a total
of two. As we regarded the bet unit as lost before the spin, we now regard it as won and add it
to the other won chip making a total of two - that's the first "2". For the next spin, you let
your two chips stay and you won again. Now, this time you keep your two chips and you win two chips.
But there are no chips considered lost, any more. The starting bet was counted for in the betting
total (32) and was later won back. And the other bet chip was won before this spin. So, when the
dealer gives you two chips, that's what you won - and that's the second "2".)

No good! Let's see what happens if we lower the limit - three wins and then collect. Still excluding
all zeroes, your sessions - in average - will be: L, L, L, L, WL, WL, WWL, WWW. This is eight
sessions, making your total bet 8 units, or chips. The winning session gave 2 + 2 + 4 = 8 units.
An even game, again! And then, if raising the limit; well, a limit of 4 or 4000 is
no difference: you get even whenever you collect.
This is, really, the REVERSED MARTINGALE, and
that's why you cannot win! That system wins one unit for every session and this one is built
to lose one (bet until you lose)! The reason you get even, when you collect, is simply that
you are interrupting the system before you lose.
But then; what is described above, is the average. The looong run. If you feel extremely lucky
one day, you can try this for ONE session, to the table limit - if you're lucky it will work!
In all other cases, I would avoid this system.
